Re: Live discussion...
I saw five shows in December and I was absolutely amazed and mesmerized by Yoav's singing, playing, songwriting, and innovative performance style. I love the fact that he plays barefoot. I guess it's just easier to work the pedals that way.
Songs I especially loved hearing live were "Club Thing" and "Beautiful Lie." I think "Club Thing" should be the next single. Or "Adore, Adore." My friends all love all three of these songs in particular. I've been telling everyone I know about Yoav's music, and my IPOD has been making the rounds at school. People see me with my IPOD and say, "Hey, can I hear this guy?" I always have them listen to "Adore, Adore" first.
I'll be seeing him perform again next month. I can't wait.

When I saw him recently, I think I was most impressed by Wake Up. That was his opening number and it just blew me away. I think his barefooted-ness gives him a kind of down-to-earth appeal - like he's a yogi or something.

I wonder if Mark ever recorded any of Yoav's sets on the tour. Yoav should have his own Legs and Boots. I love Club Thing live- it comes alive.

I saw Yoav in Anaheim and I was completely hypnotized by his art.
PLEASE Please please come to Phoenix before the end of May (I'm moving) I don't want to miss an opportunity to see him again! There are tons of smaller venues, especially in Tempe since that's where ASU is located. Then after the show, hang out on Mill Ave. for a Guinness (my preference) or whatever!
On pins and needles in anticipation <3

Wonderful transcendence
I saw Yoav opening for Tori Amos in Montreal last autumn and, although I did NOT feel like listening to an opening act (Björk's opening act just a month before had been pretty snoozy), I was instantly fascinated and then entranced by his beautiful music. Even though the set was short (as opening acts' sets are), the music and lyrics reached my little beast. That performance tore up some skin. And the crowd reaction was overwhelming (never seen that much excitement for an opening act, except maybe for Joan as police woman which was also great), so much so: I knew at the break people would rush back and buy the cd, and there would be none left for me. No no. I rushed first, got to the stand running, got there first and bought two copies
I was well prepped for Tori's mental surgery
Anyway, thanks to Yoav for his wonderful performance. I hope he will come back to Montreal, but I hope even more so that he would come to Quebec city as I'm sure people here would enjoy his art very much. I'll try and get the radio CHYZ (college station here) to play his music as I know people there (having been a dj there myself for a few years back when). Anyway: wow!

Blown Away!
Just got back from a sparse Bodega Social in Nottingham.
Got an email a while back introducing Yoav and his music.
Having had a limited listen online I decided to take a punt and get a ticket for tonight's gig.
Running a fever and feeling none too good I was rewarded for travelling from Derby to Nottingham with a truly remarkable 50 minutes of live performance from Yoav.
I think that there were less than 45 at the gig but I think everyone enjoyed the music.
The way that Yoav layers the music was very effective and artistic.
At the end of the set I took the opportunity to shake his hand - if there's any justice in this world Yoav's beautiful music should become very popular among the discerning classes.
I for one will be keeping a close eye on his progress and will certainly be investing in his music and spreading the word to those I think will appreciate it.
I guess every artist has to start somewhere when trying to build a following/popularity - I'll certainly look back on tonight's performance with fond memories and look forward to his return.
In the meantime I'll drum up some interest within my own circle of friends and make sure that the next time Yoav plays in the East Midlands there's more than 45 people there.
I honestly think Yoav's management should make every effort to get a spot on Jools Holland's Later show on the BBC - it's just the sort of show to give that all important leg-up!
I wish you all the best Yoav!
By the way Yoav - Nottingham is famous for one thing only - being on the outskirts of Derby!
PS: Spare a thought for the support band the Cusp - they played to about a dozen people.
Matt has a wonderful voice and some fine material. I suspect he has listened to Thom York a good deal.
This is meant to be a compliment and not suggest a style copy - being compared to Thom Yorke is a good thing - keep it up!

Yay for spreading the word! I'm doing the same thing. I would love to see Yoav perform on some TV shows. I think Jool Holland often lets musical guests sing more than one song, which is especially nice.

Re: Live discussion...
I echo StevieB - I had the chance to see Yoav live in Nashville. As an artist myself I know how crucial word of mouth really is when it comes to getting started in an industry. I've spread the word to everyone I know and I've invested in the EP and now the album - which I'll likely by multiple times to give to buds.
I don't think I have ever experienced the feelings and emotion that I had during Yoav's performance with the exception of my own gigs - it's a link/connection that you just don't get from anyone. And having never heard his music until that night - I know that only great things lie ahead of him.
StevieB, you are so unbelievably lucky! I would have given anything to have met him in person after the Tori gig. And I'm really hoping that it comes back this way sooner than later!
